- What about transportation from the airport?
Fred’s Academy includes only transportation from lodging to class and back to lodging. Anyone needing airport transportation will need to arrange that with the airport limo service.
- Do you need any pre-requisite courses before attending?
No, you do not. However, any mechanical and or electrical knowledge that you have will definitely assist you in this course.
- What is the average age of students attending your class?
The ages range from 17-60+ years old.
- How many students are typically in the class?
The class size is a maximum of 18.
- Can my spouse come with me to the hotel? Will the room be large enough?
Yes, you may bring your spouse to the lodging. At this time there is no extra cost.
- What attire is required for class?
Business casual is requested. No shorts or open toed shoes.
- What time does class start and end?
Class runs 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
- How do I register?
All we will need is the student’s full name and mailing address, along with e-mail and contact number (cell preferred.) Payment can be made by credit card or check. We encourage you to register with credit card to assure your seat.
- What does the student need to bring to class?
You will not need to bring anything. All tools and test equipment will be loaned to students while attending the course.
- What does the course cost?
The total cost for 3 week course (including lodging, breakfast and lunch) is $2,499.99.
- What do you cover in class?
In short the class curriculum is structured to take you from the ground up, starting with basic electricity and working up to refrigeration systems— including diagnosing, recharging and reclaiming.
- Is there “hands on” training?
Yes, we have over 125 major brand appliances including front load washers and electronic controls.
- What can I expect from the student once the course is completed?
You can expect an entrance level technician who, if given the chance to ride with a seasoned tech for 6 months to a year, should be able to handle some calls on their own. Some students will excel much faster than others. We recommend students get out in the field immediately to keep what they have learned fresh in their mind.
